Despite attempts to smear its name, Duchess Meghan and Christian Robinsons delightful read The Bench, has become a best-seller! Fake reviews on Amazon have now been blocked thanks to the effort of The Squad and The Bench has been topping multiple charts all week.
All this fanfare and yet Meghan has not been seen or heard from since her pre-recorded feature at Vax Live. No promo was done for this book, just a simple announcement and a few interviews by the books illustrator who was given his rightful time to shine. Our fave was busy birthing her princess and decorating a cute nursery while the pre-orders came in.
You know who else can drop something without promotion and it blows up?
Beyonce. Only Beyonce.

The Wide Range Of Representation
Early previews of the book gave us a preview of the diverse representation of men in the book. Fathers from various creeds, cultures and men of disability are represented in the book. Almost everyone can see themselves represented.
The Positive Message Of Fatherhood
It’s remarkable to think that while men control so many of the top positions in media, depictions of masculinity and fatherhood have taken a long time to move towards something more progressive. The hands-on dad is the modern dad, and it was heartwarming to see depictions of fathers giving their sons love and affection.
The Illustrations
The illustrations in The Bench were created with whimsical watercolours. There are several different ways you can create graphics; acrylics paints, oil paints, pencil colours or digital art, but watercolour is in is a league of its own. The softness of the brush strokes and translucent hues give the book a sense of warmth and comfort, perfect for a children’s book.
The Memorable Rhymes
Do you remember being on the playground and reciting rhymes with your friends? The Bench is easy to recite and has a smooth and memorable rhythm that flows from page to page. Children will be singing it to themselves, their fathers and their friends for years to come we’re sure.
The Heart That Went Into It
The love that Meghan has for her husband and little boy are clear to see. We know how much Meghan and Harry are striving to create a world of compassion, and they are living the change they want to see.
