YOU CAN’T BURY A SEED

Where, and how, does this end?

I’ve been asking myself this question since the Oprah interview.

Is there actually anything that will stop the carnival-train-of-trolls who create anti-Meghan content and those who eat it up? Hating on Meghan has become its own cottage industry. It’s also become a sure-fire way of getting attention.

Everyone from failed former presidents, to failed former news anchors and bitchy column writers with nothing of substance to offer want a piece of the pie. I guess writing about Prince Andrew the nonce – who deserves all the negative press he gets – just doesn’t get you the clicks you need to pay your bills. Nope, we gotta hate on a black woman to pay for Little Timmy’s private tuition.

Meghan is currently pregnant with her second child. Due to her age and previous miscarriage, this is a very high-risk pregnancy. Despite this, the attacks on her have continued. At this point, the carnival-train-of-trolls are CHOOSING to bully a pregnant woman.

I fucking hate these people.

People who target Meghan have become so fixated on her, they are failing to see what is going on behind the curtain of the media distractions, but I guess that was the plan all along, right? The thing is, it really doesn’t matter whether you are a fan of The Sussex’s or not, (and if you’re not, there’s no reason to shit talk about two people who have done nothing wrong) the fact of the matter is that The British Press are dangerous and need to held accountable. How dangerous? Well, us within Squad circles have known about this for a while, but news that The Sun hired a private investigator to spy on Meghan, Harry and her close associates has finally hit some mainstream outlets and the Twitter blue-ticks. As reported by The New York Times, Daniel Portley-Hanks claims we has paid around $2,055 for the job. Is that how stingy the devil is nowdays? Hanks found nothing that could be used against Meghan, and so, British tabloids attempted to pay off people to lie about her. The most notable of these attempts was Simon Rex who was offered over $70,000, but declined and came clean about the matter. Rex confirmed that “Nothing happened. We never even kissed. Can you even begin to imagine what all this would do to someone’s mental health. The paranoia you would feel, and yes, perhaps you would even feel…suicidal.

The vile and at times criminal way in which they operate should be a concern for everyone who believes in democracy, but instead, I see the ‘I swear I’m not racists’ folding themselves into pretzels trying to explain why it is they hate Meghan; there’s never a good answer. They usually spout usually some tosh that starts with; ‘I thought they wanted privacy’ , as if its so hard to ignore someone you’re not interested in. These trolls somehow manage to find every article and social media post about Meghan to comment on it…. how? I manage to ignore pretty much anyone I’m not interested in hearing about everyday.

The fact of the matter is that they can’t take one breath without obsessing over her. This is how stalkers behave. They want what they can’t get, and the deranged trolls can’t get a shred of Meghan’s grace, poise, talents, work ethic, or partner who has chosen her over everything. The women who hate on Meghan in particular are salty AF about that last point. For you see, it was a fair virgin maiden born of blue blood that was meant to get The Prince, not the girl who’s mama has dreadlocks.

In analysing Megnans ordeal, we have always tried to dig deeper here at Sussex Squad podcast into the wider implications of what is being done to her.

If it is okay to bully the most visible woman of colour to ever step into the Royal Family, if the tiny wiff of melanin on her skin was enough to make her the target of a coordinated smear campaign, what more for other black women and girls?

The campaign against Meghan isn’t just targeted at Meghan. It’s a warning to anyone who tries to shine brighter than the mediocre gatekeepers who are hanging on for dear life to their power.

What the forces at be don’t realise, is that you cannot bury a seed, and despite everything that has been thrown at her, Meghan’s seed has grown, blossomed and pollinated into endless fields across the globe. Entire communities have been built, friendships have been formed, platforms have been developed because of what she represents.

Meghan is not a moment in time, she is now a movement, and there’s nothing her detractors can do about that.
