Harry Honours Diana

Just in case anybody was uncertain: Harry isn’t playing around.

Our man landed in the UK, took care of business, paid respects to his mother, and was back home to California in time for his 4th of July BBQ.

The British Prince liberated from the prison of The British Firm, rescued by an American Wonder Woman. Surely Disney will make a modern fairytale about this one day…

I wonder what July 4th looks like in Casa De Montecito? Waffles with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream? And a side of eggs from Archies Chicken Inn? Then a fresh salad for lunch from Lili’s vegetable patch. Such joy!

Onto Diana’s statue unveiling, there’s a lot to unpack, starting with Harry’s choice to attend. The statue has been in the works for years, but was unveiled on what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday. I can’t even imagine what the world would have been had she lived. Diana’s legacy is still very much alive. From her work with HIV and leprosy patients, attempting to destigmatize both illnesses, to her work bringing attention to the use of landmines, she was a woman ahead of her time. The only Royal to ever capture the people’s hearts and even in death, she still outshines the others.

Some in the Squad weren’t too happy about Harry attending given that in the weeks leading up to the event, Meghan was being trashed again by the press and so-called ‘bullying’ allegations and Williams negative feelings about Meghan reappeared in the papers.

It’s worth noting that The Royal Reporters, aka, The Carnival Of So Called Experts were not invited. Only a few camera operators and one official photographer. It could be that the British Press drummed up those headlines in an effort to cause tension and as a way of irritating Harry, knowing that he would have demanded that Royal Reporters should be banned from the event.

Well, the harassment tactics from the press didn’t work. Harry had the absolute look of joy when he showed up at the statue unveiling. The message from Harry is clear: you can’t bully me anymore, and even those who had reservations about his attendance had a change of heart.

Harry looked centred, calm and incandescent with joy. He wasn’t going to miss this opportunity to honour his mother and give the press something to talk about. What we witnessed was a man standing true to his words, he’s no longer playing the British Media and Establishments game, and a man who knows his children will see the circus playing out one day.

As expected, no Windsors were present at the event. Kate wasn’t either, nor was Charles. The Queen’s cold reception to Diana’s death and Prince Charles philandering have not been forgotten, even by some staunch monarchists.

Harry reportedly only stayed 20 minutes after the unveiling and got straight back on a plane to California. The only other appearance he made during his time in the UK was for a Well Child garden event.

Other than that, we only got one picture of Harry in a car with his security.

The British press pretty much got NOTHING!

Harry is back in California, in the embrace of people who truly love him, and it will be a long time until he ever steps foot on Shutter Island again.
