How to dress like Meghan Markle | Meghan Markle Style Rules

Keep it simple
Classic style is classic because it is a) timeless and b) can be easily replicated. Meghan’s looks will be rememberable and stylish for years to come. She often sticks to one or two colours or one signature pattern. The versatility of her clothes has also meant that women of all shapes, sizes and heights can wear her clothes and still look and feel great.
This has in part contributed to the ‘Meghan Effect’ that has led to almost every item associated with the Duchess selling out within hours. The simplicity of her wardrobe means its often easy to find similar looking items without the designer price tag. Some of Meghans favourite designers include Stella McCartney, Givenchy and Burberry.

Put comfort first
Meghan never lost her laid back Cali girl vibe and always put comfort first when it comes to her wardrobe choices. She knows the importance of feeling comfortable on the inside and how that contributes to your overall look. She has often been spotted in smaller kitten heels or flats, even when royal dress mostly dictates heels, she’ll happily pull out some flats every now and again. The confidence it the best accessory and never goes out of style.

Let your natural beauty shine
Meghan is a natural beauty and lets her natural beauty shine. She mostly ops for very transparent foundation or a light bb cream and natural colours that compliment her skin tone. On some state occasions where there was a heavier presence of cameras, she could be seen wearing heavier coverage, but again, it was kept very much in line with her natural skin tone. On some evening occasions, she has been seen wearing a slightly darker lip to add a touch of femme fatale boldness. More recently, since her departure from The Firm, we have seen a return to darker and bolder red lips, and we’re excited to see what her fashion choices are now that she does not have to abide by royal protocol.

Heavy makeup techniques such as bake face and contouring which have become popular in beauty circles are never seen on Meghan. She lets her natural beauty shine. Her nails are also kept short and she opts for natural pastels. On her wedding day, she wore one base layer of CND Shellac’s Unmasked colour topped up with two coats of their Negligee colour to finish. On her toes, Meghan wore two coats of the brand’s Cashmere Wrap pink shade.

Use colour to make bold statements.
During her final farewell tour, Meghan was seen in every colour under the rainbow. Bright red, charismatic purple, a green cape, and who could forget the now infamous blue Victoria Beckham dress against the sparkling London rain.

Bold colours are a way to make a bold statement. They let your clothes do the talking, and everybody could not keep their eyes away from the Sussexes during their farewell tour. That is the magic the firm lost, and it cannot be replicated.

Minimal hair styling

Meghan tends to keep the styling of her hair very simple. She’s been seen rocking slicked back pony tails, loose beach waves, bone straight lengths and light side swept curls. On a few more formal occasions, she has gone for soft hollywood waves and a backcombed smart bun. We know that Meghan’s natural hair is curly, and we do wonder if she’ll revert back to her natural curls at some point and join #teamnatural, we’d love to see it. For now though, it seems Meghan is keeping to her straightened locks.

Before her relationship with harry became public Meghan was interviewed for Beauty Banter and gave an insight into what she uses to maintain her famous locks. To keep her hair conditioned and prevent damage, she uses Kerastase Masquintense and also Kerastase’s Sérum Oléo-Relax a smoothing oil that keeps dehydrated hair frizz-free.
