Time to start planning another global Sussex Squad baby shower!!
Harry and Meghan announced yesterday that they are expecting their second child! The happy news was brought to our attention just as we were wrapping up our weekly live Sunday Sussex Squad podcast.
We’re just going to pretend they timed it on purpose to make Tina cry live on air.
Photographer Misan Harriman took the official photograph and posted it across his social media accounts along with this sweet message: Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow. The couple’s choice of photographer, like everything, is significant. Harriman is a Nigerian-born British photographer, entrepreneur, and social activist. As well as being one of the most widely-shared photographers of the Black Lives Matter movement, Harriman is the first black man to shoot a cover of British Vogue in the magazine’s 104-year history.
Meghan can be seen laying on the grass being lovingly held by her husband in what we assume is the sprawling backyard yard of their Santa Barbra Estate.
We don’t yet know whether or not Archie is going to have a little sister or little brother, but we’re sure Harry and Meghan will find their own special way of telling us, the same way they always do. Sussex fans were quick to point out that 37 years to the day on Valentine’s Day, Diana announced her pregnancy with Harry.
The surprise announcement comes days after Meghan won her case against the Associated Press and a few months after her heart-breaking op-ed in which she disclosed a miscarriage. It is well-noted how the British tabloids chose to come down hard on Meghan while she was pregnant. It was cruel, deliberate, and something no other pregnant Royal has ever had to suffer through. They wanted to harm Meghan and her baby and we will not forget it.
While we don’t expect the tabloids to back off this time around either, at the very least, Meghan is in America, surrounded by people that love and support her. She will not have to tip-toe around a bunch of vipers and can enjoy her pregnancy with a bit more peace and protection.
Of course, the haters will never miss a chance to shit on a happy Sussex moment, but we will give them no airtime here. The carnival of clowns aka Royal Reporters can keep preaching to their deranged choir, no one else is listening.
The Sussex Squad is smiling today, Diana, we’re sure, is smiling too.
