Should we just name the month of May the month Of ‘All We Do is Win’?
For real, that’s all it’s been throughout May. While some people are taking selfies with sheep, Sussex Squad is being well fed by our faves with a succession of incredible and innovative projects and appearances.
We received a surprise project from Meghan in the form of a new children’s book called The Bench. What originally began as a poem for her husband flourished into a picture book. The book available in kindle, hardback and as an audio book, features stunning watercolour illustrations by Christian Robinson.
True to her values, Meghan chose an underrepresented person of colour to collaborate with. Christian has worked with The Sesame Street Workshop and Pixar Animation Studios and is a California native.

As most of us know, Meghan’s relationship with her father is broken, thanks in part to the British press, but also because of his own shenanigans. That she still chose to celebrate fathers is incredibly commendable and shows that whatever traumas we are put through by our own parents, we can break the cycle. We can free ourselves from pain, and if we choose to have children, not burden them with the pain we endured also. Both harry and Meghan have done this, and one can probably imagine, it’s where they’ve found a great sense of healing.
It’s also a testament to who Harry is as a man and a father that his wife would be so inspired to write a poem, and then a book about his relationship with their son.
Society is finally starting to have discussions about crafting a more positive blueprint for masculinity and here is Meghan, celebrating a diverse group of fathers in a beautiful book. Here is Meghan, celebrating positive and healthy masculinity.

Of course, the British press always have to shit on the parade.

Can these people just say they hate the black princess and go already.
I was educated in the British system, I had to read a lot of boring waffle, it didn’t destroy my love of reading. On the flip side, it’s interesting to know they think Meghan is so powerful, every adult in the UK is going to buy their kid a copy of book!
All of these attacks only make Meghan’s star shine brighter. The book became an instant bestseller on Amazon and will probably be one of the best-selling books of the year.
