HARRY AND MEGHAN 2020 A YEAR IN REVIEW – THE WINS

It’s been a year of incredible wins for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Less than 12 months after stepping down from official Royal duties, they have solidified themselves as two of the most prominent global figures in the world. They have laid the foundations of their empire in a pandemic!

What one year review? LOL!

Harry and Meghan. No titles needed.

Let’s take a look back at what the pair have managed to pull-off since finding their freedom.

The Farewell Tour
She came to slay, didn’t she?
Meghan was not playing with these fools. Every outfit choice was a winner. A color burst of perfectly selected outfits. The two biggest wins from the farewell tour were the green cape dress at the Commonwealth service and the blue Victoria Beckham dress. Whether it was deliberate or not, the green Commonwealth dress was highly symbolic. Green: the color of her haters faces. The cape: the mood of her spirit. Meghan came back defiant and ready to step into her Super Woman power.

And then the blue dress. She wore the s**t out of that blue dress. The biggest winner, of course, was Samir Hussein, the photographer who caught the moment that went around the world. Harry and Meghan, under the umbrella ella ella ella eh, eh, eh. The lighting was perfect, the rain looked like glitter, and even the critics couldn’t deny they created magic.

Meghan Speaks
When Meghan was a young girl, she wrote a letter to Procter and Gamble asking them to change a sexist ad, they agreed. Almost 3 decades later, she speaks at the Girl Up Summit sponsored by, you guessed it, Procter and Gamble. This was one of many virtual appearances she made throughout the year via video call. She also spoke to Fortune magazine, as well as the newly launched news site The 19th, and along with Harry, recorded a message for Times as part of their virtual summit. Meghan also teamed up with Gloria Steinem to call voters and encourage them to vote.

Harry Speaks
Harry was the only member of the Royal Family to speak with the voices involved in the BLM movement. He also addressed his own privilege, and how a life of luxury blinded him to certain injustices. The first Duke Of Sussex was an abolitionist, Harry walks in his legacy and has proven he deserves that title.

Community Work
Since moving to Los Angeles, both Harry and Meghan have taken part in community service, handing out supplies to disadvantaged families affected by Covid. Harry also did one project solo in Compton.

Harry And Meghan Move Into Their New Home
While paparazzi were still camping outside of Tyler Perry’s house where the couple settled after leaving Canada, Harry and Meghan were making moves to purchase a new home in Santa Barbra. Their lush mansion is in a quiet, paparazzi-free neighbourhood near many of the couple’s close friends. There was not a single leak about the property purchase until their representatives let it be known.

Archewell Site Launches
The official site for Archewell launched, and we were treated to a sleek and simple beige minimalist landing page. Make sure to head over to the website and sign up if you haven’t already. Harry and Meghan have already announced one of the first recipients of Archewell would be World Central Kitchen. We can safely assume that it won’t be too long before the website goes fully live.

Spotify Deal And Archewell Audio
To finish off the year, we will be getting a Christmas special on Archwell Audio, Harry and Meghan’s newly launched podcast on Spotify. Normal life is unlikely to resume to what it was for at least another year or so, so creating a podcast is both a great way of staying present and expanding their media portfolio. There is no official figure on how much the deal was, but we can imagine it was a pretty fat cheque.

The Netflix Deal
Our faves signed the deal of all deals with Netflix. Although no one knows the exact number, it’s said to be anywhere between $100,000,000 to $150,000,000 – more than enough to buy Archie a Lambo for his 16th birthday. We expect highly cinematic, thought-provoking and inspiring media that both entertains and puts a spotlight on important topics.

Clevr Blends Investment
We found out about Meghan’s first investment as a VC. Clevr Blends is a female-owned latte company that focuses on ethically sourcing nutritious ingredients for their lattes. The latte mixes immediately sold out and the company will expand their shipping and distribution channels in the New year. The Meghan effect is matched only by the Oprah effect, and given the two have a close relationship, we can’t wait to see what they will bring us next.

Of course, there are some moments we were missing, but these were some of the most memorable.

All we do is win win win no matter what. This list is just a small snap-shot of what we do know, there is going to be plenty that we WON’T know and will NEVER know, and that’s what I love the most. I love that the Sussexes will be making moves both publicly and quietly.

That’s true success, that’s true power and that’s something they would have never had if they were still within the fold of The Firm.
