Carbi B’s Bodak Yellow was like a psychic premonition of Harry and Meghan’s future.
Two things that give you power are capital and connections. Harry and Meghan have all the power, all the connections, a great team that respects their privacy who work as hard as they do, and, everybody who is anybody wanting to work with them.
This was always what was going to happen, it’s a joke anyone ever doubted them, they are thriving, not surviving and financially independent.
Consider that the Sussex’s have barely been seen since leaving The Firm. Their appearances and announcements have been few and far between but impactful every time. Even news about Acrhewell hires get written about in publications like The Hollywood Reporter. This is print space reserved for the highest ranking entertainment executives. When is the last time you heard about a palace hire other than when it was a controversial choice?
If you are a creative in the entertainment industry, you are currently by your phone 24/7 hoping for that phone call. If you are a charity, business, designer, creative you want the Sussex’s. Our faves have reached the “don’t call us, we’ll call you’ phase”.
They can literally hand out deals and contracts or investments, to almost anyone they please. That is the level of moving and shaking that everyone in Hollywood wants. Being in front of the camera might give you the fame and the money, but it’s being behind it that gives you power. Being able to put the final seal on deals in what gives you power. I would go as far as saying they are probably more powerful than any other Hollywood executive at the moment, because even the heads of the biggest companies still have to discuss and vote for individual projects, there’s an entire board of creatives and directors and investors that projects have to go through before being greenlit. With Harry and Meghan, they make all those decisions themselves, and it can be centred around what they are truly passionate about. Very very few people in entertainment have that power, or the press and public obsessing over their every move.
The level of press attention that Harry and Meghan get is almost surreal. Marketing, companies pay in the tens of thousands a month to PR and advertising companies on a retainer to get the amount of free press Harry and Meghan get just for breathing. They are guaranteed press coverage, with or with a press person, because they create the press, infact, they’re keeping It running.
Why else would the entire royal rota rat pack still have entire sections of publications dedicated to two people who are no longer working royals!!
Netflix and Spotify aren’t paying Meghan and Harry all that money because they like them, or because they were royals, they’re paying them that money for the audience they bring. And that audience is made up of both fans and haters, it doesn’t matter what side you’re on you are part of the audience and you help drive the attention, views, clicks and sales.
We are going to see our faves moving from strength to strength and the hater bridge who is living in an alternative universe where Harry and Meghan are failing, they’re going to continue to be shocked and surprised. The British press thought they were going to destroy Meghan, to the contrary, they made her the most recognisable name on the planet.
Everything harry and Meghan touch turns to gold, and everything their haters touch turns to dust.
