We did wonder how long it would be before The Firm would finally start coming down on Harry. Up until recently, the narrative that has been built around Harry is that he is a hostage victim who has been put into a ‘trance’. That he is a man mad in love, helpless to the spell and charms of a woman with ‘exotic DNA’. He was as some press vultures called him ‘not too smart’, and with time would ‘come to his senses and marry the dumb, conservative blonde that his brother told him to marry’- Piers Morgans words, not ours.
They threw everything at Harry’s wife, thinking he would eventually fold and leave her – he did not. Harry has stood by the vows he took in front of the entire world, and it would appear The Establishment is finally starting to get the message: Harry is not coming back.
If ever he was going to come back even in a casual capacity, they have all but ruined any chances of him making a return with the consistent attacks against his wife, and now…against him.
The change of tone from ‘Harry the hostage victim who needs to be rescued’ to ‘Harry the problem’ has been gradual. There have 4 distinct phases to the failed scheme launched to get Harry back into the fold, which we will examine here in detail.
Phase 1: Keep the door open
It has now been revealed that Harry did not want the 12-month review. This was long suspected by Sussex fans that Harry and Meghan would want a clean break. With the level of vitriol being leveled against them – particularly Meghan – there would be no reason for Harry and Meghan to what to continue being working Royals. What’s become ever more clear is the review was put in place with the hopes that Harry would come back alone – without Meghan.
Phase 2: strip harry of his military titles
After stepping down from Royal duties, Harry was made to step down from several military appointments. The hypocrisy is overwhelming as Randy Uncle Prince Andrew has still kept his titles. The Military means a lot to Harry, but just as Harry has been loyal to the soldiers and veterans he supports, he is also loyal to his wife and his marriage vows. That is the way of a soldier – he keeps his word. The Royal Family was very mistaken in thinking Harry would disown his family for the sake of titles. Harry is a soldier at heart, title and honours mean little. He left his blood, sweat, and tears on the battlefront, he defended his country, he is above titles and medals.
Despite the efforts made by The Royal Family to create tension between Harry and the military community, many people in the community have spoken out about his treatment, and some media outlets have pointed out the glaring hypocrisy in how Harry – the only member of the royal family to serve on the front line – has been treated by The Royal Family.
Phase 3: Crying wolf
In phase two of the game plan to go after Harry, the Establishment attempted to win harry back with guilt, and by claiming that they needed him in order for things to keep afloat. Enter grown men like Arthur Edwards crying like a baby on day-time television as if Harry isn’t a 30something-year-old man free to create his own life.
There have also been numerous articles in British media claiming that the monarchy will not survive without Harry and that he should come back. Note, they rarely mention Meghan. One minute, the monarchy needs harry, the next minute, they’re irrelevant and the other members of the Royal Family are ready to rule – which is it?
Phase 4: Destroy him completely
With every effort to bring Harry back into the fold exhausted, it would appear that perhaps they have finally given up completely and have decided to begin treating harry with the same contempt as they do Meghan.
Since the death of George Floyd, Harry has consistently called for a greater discussion around issues of race admitting his own biases and speaking about race in a way that no member of The Royal Family in modern times has. Incidentally, the original Duke of Sussex, Prince Augustus Frederick, was in fact an abolitionist, a fact that seems to conveniently go ignored by so-called royal experts and historians.
The Firm will just have to face the fact that they lost two of the most valuable assets to the family and that Harry will not be coming back as a working royal. They will do well to simply leave Harry and Meghan alone and focus on whatever dwindling fan base of royalists they have left. The attacks on Harry will only expose the Royals and press even further.
As many Sussex fans would say, Harry should not return to the United Kingdom at all without good reason, and there are not many good reasons at all.
